Security questions
One of the main disadvantages of computer networks is the security issues that are involved. If the computer is a separate computer, physical access becomes necessary for any kind of data theft. However, if the computer is on the network, the hacker can gain unauthorized access using various tools. In the case of a large organization, various network security software should be used to prevent the theft of confidential and classified information.
Lack of Reliability
If the main file server of the computer network fails, the entire system becomes useless. If there is a central communication server or a bridge device in the network, and this fails, the entire network will come to a standstill. In the case of large networks, the file server must be a powerful computer, which often makes the creation and maintenance of the system doubly expensive.
Lack of independence
Since most networks have a centralized server and dependent clients, client users have no freedom at all. Centralized decision-making can sometimes interfere with how a customer wants to use their computer.
The main directions and ways of development of computer networks include the following:
1. Development of network topology, aimed at ensuring simultaneous servicing of requests from a larger number of subscriber systems and increase the efficiency and reliability of delivery of packets to recipients through the creation of alternative routes.
2. Creation of new, more advanced protocols for information exchange and network management, development of information and telecommunication technologies.
3. Improvement of existing and creation of new hardware for data transmission and processing, expansion of design and production of multipurpose multiplexers, switches, and other products, equipping channel switching centers, messages, packets with more sophisticated equipment.
4. Development of software networks. In this direction, many teams are constantly working, offering new versions of operating systems (which have more opportunities to manage the operation of networks and more convenient for users), application software systems, technical (including remote) hardware maintenance services.
5. Improving the reliability of networks, improving and developing methods and tools to ensure high performance in all aspects of the reliability problem of the COP - technical, software, information, and functional.
6. Development of methods and tools (traditional and specific) to provide a higher level of security of information circulating in networks, increasing the effectiveness of security services and mechanisms for implementing their functions.
7. Expanding the list of provided information and computing services, raising their intellectual level through the extensive use of intelligent systems and knowledge bases.
8. Rational combination of various organizational forms of using SVTI within computer networks. We are talking about a broader connection to the networks of powerful, medium and small computer centers that would be used in the CC as data processing and storage centers, as well as mass connected to the network of personal computers that are individually used by citizens at home
9. Improvement of organizational forms of maintenance of SVTI and telecommunications used in networks. The increase of efficiency of service is reached by the perfection of the individual, centralized and mixed organizational forms of service, and also the development of service technology.
10. Rational organization of queuing of requests of network users.
11. Improving the ergonomics of computer networks, achieved by optimizing the work of network users, its management, and maintenance staff.
12. Intensive transition to the use of methods and tools that determine the integration processes in information transmission systems. The basic directions of integration are deleptonization, digitalization, computerization, intellectualization, unification, personalization, globalization, standardization.
13. Creation and continuous improvement of the global intelligence network uniting the networks of all states.
Based on the results of the first open certification training, we have to state that the main problem in managing real projects is the unavailability of the organizations in which the Project Managers work, to ensure conditions for the correct execution of their work. That is, in terms of PMBOK - the risks associated with the factors of the organizational environment, including such elements as corporate culture, the consistency of all elements of the management structure, training of line and senior managers to work in the project management system. At the same time, of course, taking into account the readiness of these Project Managers, both in theory and in practice ...
The most difficult questions that were asked during the training were relevant to the field - how to practically organize work on standards and with the appropriate quality in a particular company, taking into account that "he does not know how", "this one does not hear", "it does not work" etc. It is necessary to answer these questions, but it is not easy and it is not a fact that after the answers it will be possible to change the situation. From my point of view, there is no other way out, except for step by step acquaint the PM environment with the appropriate technologies, both in theory and in practice, thereby proving their effectiveness in practice, train line managers in the basics of project management, apply the ones realized on the course tools and approaches in real life.
In the framework of the training, it is impossible to consider all the nuances of the functioning of a particular company, so as not to give a streamlined, and concrete answer - how to solve the problem. Nevertheless, at the second training, which will begin on 12.02.10, separate time blocks will be devoted to this problem. They will not solve the problem, of course, completely, but they will allow the listeners to get the most optimal and universal recommendations - how to apply the received knowledge here and now ... P.S. After the first training, several companies started attempts to implement the project management system (not to be confused with the software), and 2 people applied for the PMP exam. I do not know whether it is a lot or not (from 79 people who attended the training) ... But - with initiative and good luck to them.
